Here’s the first image of the upcoming Huawei P50 Pro

Today, the first image of the upcoming flagship smartphone from Huawei, which, presumably, will be called the Huawei P50 Pro, appeared on the web.

Although these are unofficial renders, they were created based on images from a patent that was registered by Huawei, so the design in the picture is not completely groundless.

Judging by the picture, the main design feature of the Huawei P50 Pro will be the rear camera; which will be located in a circle cut off from one side. The main camera unit contains four sensors.

Earlier, there were reports that Huawei is planning to launch the next flagship series of smartphones in the first half of 2021. The source claims Huawei will be using the Kirin 9000 SoC for the Huawei P50.

In addition, the report states that the display suppliers for the Huawei P50 are Samsung Display and LG Display. Apparently, they are now preparing for production. The source also adds that Samsung Display and LG Display will definitely supply displays for the Huawei P50; however it is unknown if they will receive orders for the Huawei Mate 50 series.

Huawei to launch the Huawei P50 series in H1 2021

Huawei suffered a great impact in its smartphone division due to the US Government ban that is pursuing the company in both the hardware and software front. The ban is there since 2019 and the company managed to survive its consequences. However, things got a little more complicated in 2020. The company lost access to its HiSillicon chipset division.TSMC, the actual supplier of 5nm chips, can’t deal with the company anymore. Huawei is still trying its best to survive in the smartphone segment and recently released the Huawei Mate 40 series as the last devices sporting Kirin chipsets. Now, the company will need to rely on third-party chipset makers to keep bringing flagships to the market. Despite the problems, the company still intends to release the Huawei P50 flagships in the first half of 2021.

Gizchina News of the week

According to a report from TheElec, Huawei is planning to launch the next iteration of the P Series in the first half of 2021. The report further states that Huawei is likely going to use the 5nm-based Kirin 9000 chipset. This is a surprise, after all, reports were pointing that Huawei directed the whole supply to the Mate 40 series. Huawei Consumer Business CEO, Yu Richard told in a previous statement that Huawei Mate 40 Series could be the last to sport a Kirin SoC.

Samsung and LG will supply the Huawei P50 displays

Besides the chipset, the reports state that display suppliers of Huawei P50 are Samsung Display and LG Display. Both companies are getting ready for production as of now. The resolution and actual design of those displays, obviously are a mystery right now. The orders for P50 are final. However, the report says that there is no clarity if they will also get orders for the next Mate 50 series.

Huawei wants to keep its userbase with solid smartphones and wants to keep its name as competitive players in the flagship segment. The company almost reached Samsung a couple of years ago by shipping nearly 44 million flagship smartphones. It also surpassed Apple in the entire shipment rankings for 2019. According to early estimates, the company experiencing an expressive drop in 2020. While the Chinese customers are pretty much supporting Huawei, their devices are now almost irrelevant in Global markets. It’s hard for a global customer to have a device without Google Apps.

We have to wait to see if Huawei will find a way to bypass all the restrictions. The company may see some relief on Biden’s administration, but only the time will tell.
