Realme GT

Today was one of the biggest days of the year for Android enthusiasts since Google revealed all its plans for the next Android 12 update. Along with the announcement, the company initiated the beta program for the new Android version and many Android OEMs will take part with a few select smartphones. Realme is joining the gang of the first smartphones to receive Android 12 and the Realme GT has been selected for this very special job. According to the company’s press release, the Chinese developers will be able to test the beta starting today. For now, the beta is based on Realme UI 2.0, however, once it gets stable the company will unveil it alongside its Realme UI 3.0 skin.

Last year, Realme has selected its flagship Realme X50 Pro as the first device eligible for Android 11. Now, it’s time for its first 2021 flagship to get the same treatment. The Realme GT was revealed in China in the beginning of March with compelling specifications and a very affordable price. Unfortunately, the device is yet to reach global markets, but for now, developers in China will be able to test some of the goodies introduced with Android 12. We’re particularly curious to see how Realme will implement some of the new features like the native theming engine.

The company is currently busy with the rollout of Android 11-based Realme UI 2.0 for many of its mid-range smartphones. However, the company may keep a strict development of Android 12 while Googles make its final adjustments for the final release. The search giant will still bring more betas in the next months before the stable release by September 2021. We expect the Realme GT to follow these betas as well.
