Huawei launched the nova 8i in Malaysia on July 6. The nova 8i is the latest entrant in the company’s well-received nova 8 lineup. The series comprises four smartphones including nova 8 SE, nova 8 Pro 5G, nova 8 Pro 4G, and the nova 8 5G.
The phone was listed on the company’s official site for more than a week. So, the hype surrounding the new handset is quite understandable. As expected, details about the recently unveiled Huawei nova 8i are currently making the rounds online.

Upfront, the nova 8i sports a highly appealing chassis with a 6.67-inch Edgeless LCD display. This mammoth display features a punch-hole screen and offers an impressive FHD+ resolution of 2376 x 1080 pixels. The most notable aspect is the phone is its edgeless design, which features super-thin bezels.
Much to the delight of avid gamers, the nova 8i offers a touch sampling rate of 180Hz. This ensures a smoother touch response while playing mobile games. On the photography front, the phone houses a rear-mounted circular camera ring that accommodates four cameras.
The phone features a 64MP main camera with an f/1.9 aperture, an 8MP ultra-wide lens, a 2MP depth sensor, along a 2MP macro unit. Upfront, there’s a 16MP shooter with an f/2.0 aperture for capturing flawless self-portraits and uninterrupted video calling.
Furthermore, it packs a powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 processor. The nova 8i ships with 8GB of RAM and offers 128GB of built-in storage capacity so that users can save and access their favorite music, videos, and other multimedia files on the go.

Moreover, the phone draws its juices from a robust 4,300mAh battery with 66W fast charging support. According to the company, the phone takes only 38 minutes to be charged from 0 to 100 percent. The phone runs Android 11 OS with EMUI 11 out of the box on top of it.
Aside from that, it boasts an array of Huawei-only features such as the Huawei MeeTime, which is the company’s video chatting application. It also comes with Huawei AppGallery support and Photo Safe Sharing features. In terms of connectivity, it supports for Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac 2.4 GHz/ 5GHZ and Bluetooth v5.0. There’s also a 3.5mm headphone jack and Type-C port for charging.
Price & Availability Details
The 8GB RAM + 128GB ROM model retails for RM1299 (about $312) in Malaysia. You can choose between Starry Black, Moonlight Silver, and the Interstellar Blue color variants.
The phone is slated to go up for pre-orders starting from July 21. You can avail of benefits worth RM260 (about $63) when you pre-book the phone.
