Micromax to unveil new smartphone in India on July 30

Micromax In

Micromax is preparing the terrain for a new smartphone launch in India. The company was once one of the most relevant smartphone brands in the country. However, it has lost ground to the Chinese wave of brands that now domain the market. Micromax is betting in a certain anti-China sentiment and is betting on nationalistic smartphones such as the In series. According to a new report, the company is preparing a new batch of In smartphones for the company. The upcoming smartphone will come with long battery life, extra performance and will aim at Gig workers. The teaser doesn’t explicitly reveal the name of the smartphone. However, we expect it to be the Micromax IN 2B. It will go official on July 30th in the country.

Gizchina News of the week

The Micromax IN 2B will be the direct successor for the company’s Micromax IN 1B smartphone. According to a report by The Mobile Indian, Micromax is planning to launch the Micromax IN 2B in India by the end of July. Now, the company has teased the arrival of a new smartphone on July 30. We can conclude that this date will serve to reveal the Micromax IN 2B. The device already passed by GeekBench benchmark. It confirms the presence of a chipset that is growing in popularity.

Micromax IN 2B will pack a Unisoc T160 octa-core chipset

According to the GeekBench benchmarking platform, the new Micromax IN 2B will sport a Unisoc T610 chipset. This chip is basically an alternative for MediaTek’s Helio G80 SoC or Snapdragon 450 chipsets. The Chinese chipmaker is achieving partnerships with many companies lately, and Micromax is the latest firm using the Unisoc Tiger T610 platform. The chip scores 350 points in the single-core test and 1,204 points in the multi-core test. As we mentioned before, the device will be arriving as a successor to Micromax’s IN 1B smartphone. The device will run Android 11 straight out of the box. However, this is hardly a surprise at this point.

The last year’s model has a 6.52-inch IPS LCD screen with HD+ resolution and a 20:9 aspect ratio. We’re not expecting ground-breaking changes in the screen department. However, the T610 will feel like a massive upgrade over the Helio G35 on the last year’s model. In terms of optics, the device has a 13 MP camera and a 2 MP secondary camera. The battery is a 5,000mAh unit with 10W charging. We expect the Micromax IN 2B to pack the very same battery capacity. Hopefully, it will have better-charging technology.

Besides the Micromax IN 2B, the company is also preparing an IN 2C smartphone. We might hear more about that variant at the July 30th event.
