Tecno Pova Neo announced with big battery and screen

Tecno has made its name in Asia and Africa in the past years and is expanding its presence across global markets. In fact, the company that usually focuses on the mid-range and low-end segments is aiming at higher heights. Earlier this week, we heard the news about a partnership between Tecno and Samsung to develop an RGBW camera. We may see this camera debuting in a premium Tecno smartphone sometime in the next year. Meanwhile, the company keeps filling the market with its budget devices. Today, Tecno has unveiled the Tecno Pova Neo in Niugeria with compelling specs for the affordable range.

Tecno Pova Neo specifications

The Tecno Pova Neo brings a massive 6.8-inch LCD with an HD+ resolution and a 120 Hz refresh rate. The device has a waterdrop notch on top for an 8 MP selfie camera. The back serves as a home for the 13 MP Main camera and a secondary 2 MP snapper port portraits. Interestingly, Tecno ships a fancy Quad-LED flash, and all the lights have the same color.

Gizchina News of the week

Under the hood, we have the MediaTek Helio P22, which is really underwhelming at this point in time. Anyway, it comes with 4 GB of RAM and up to 64 GB of Internal Storage. There is also a micro SD card slot for easy expansion. The big battery can be charged through the USB Type C port with the 18W adapter that comes in the retail box. Thankfully, the device does not come with micro USB ports. After all, there are many brands that still insist on this old standard that isn’t capable of providing proper charging speeds.

In terms of software, the Tecno Pova Neo runs Android 11 with HiOS 7.6 on top. Honestly, we don’t recommend this device for those who are already looking for Android 12 experience. Tecno is yet to confirm, but we don’t think that the company is prioritizing the Android 12 update for its devices with Android 11. The focus clearly is some less exigent users that don’t really care for having the latest Android available.

As already mentioned, the Tecno Pova Neo is available in Nigeria for NGN72,500 which is around $175. It can be purchased in offline stores, and there are three possible color choices – Two different shades of Black, and a Light Blue colorway.
