Oppo Find N: innovative hinge and flexible display details

Oppo is gearing up to host an event next week that will focus on innovation. The company decided that the format and theme of the conference are perfect for presenting the first foldable smartphone Oppo Find N. On the eve of the release, the manufacturer is stirring up interest in the new product and earlier they promised that the fold would not interrupt the visual perception of the flexible display, but today we are talking about the quality of the hinge and the reliability.

The company’s chief product officer said the Oppo Find N was the first in the world to receive Seiko’s pseudo-vertical hinge, which is more advanced than U-hinge technology. The hinges themselves are tiny and offer a long service life. The company claims that each hinge costs $ 125; and is three times more expensive than other hinges on the market.

Meanwhile, insiders have leaked promotional materials for the Oppo Find N, which indicate that the smartphone will receive a flexible 7.1-inch display with an aspect ratio of 8.4:9 (landscape orientation is 9.6: 9). The LTPO panel itself, with a dynamic refresh rate of 0 to 120Hz, offers a peak brightness of 800 nits and a total of 8926 brightness levels.

The Oppo Find N will be available in three colors: black, white and silver. There will be two variants – 8/256 GB and 12/512 GB. The company promises that the guaranteed lifespan of the hinge is 200,000 flexions/extensions. We know that the smartphone should run on the Snapdragon 888; and will be running the ColorOS shell, optimized for a folding form factor.

Oppo will show a smartphone with a retractable main camera

On December 14, Oppo will be holding its annual Inno Day 2021 event to showcase its latest technology innovations. Last year, as part of this event, the company demonstrated a conceptual sliding smartphone Oppo X 2021. This time, a presentation of a device with a retractable main camera of its own design will take place.

The camera of the device will be represented by a 1 / 1.56-inch sensor with a 50mm lens with an f / 2.4 aperture. It is assumed that the module will be built on the Sony IMX766 sensor. It is not yet reliably known what exactly the retractable design is for; but there are assumptions that optical zoom will be implemented in this way.

A short video teaser posted by Oppo on Twitter shows that the structure is water resistant and can close when dropped. More detailed information about the new product will appear next week; however, you should remember that we are talking about a concept device; that probably will not go to the mass market.
