Over the past few years, there have been significant improvements in the display panel for smartphones. Many recent flagships come with the latest LTPO OLED display. The likes of iPhone 13 Pro/Pro Max, OnePlus 9 Pro, Oppo Find X3 Pro, and other models use this display. The LTPO OLED displays reduce power consumption while ensuring a high refresh rate. Unfortunately, the LTPO OLED display panel has been exclusively supplied by Samsung. However, Chinese manufacturers are now quickly catching up. According to a recent report, Visionox has the mass production capacity for LTPO OLED displays. With the current production capacity plan, Visionox will maintain an advantage in the Chinese LTPO OLED market next year.
LTPO means “Low-Temperature Polycrystalline Oxide”. The upcoming Xiaomi 12 Pro, OnePlus 10 Pro, and other flagships will use the LTPO 2.0 display screen. The refresh rate control is more refined, and the control and energy consumption are further considered. In addition, it is not difficult to speculate that the LTPO OLEDs of BOE and China Star Optoelectronics should also be close to maturity.
Visionox is still has a long way to go
Chinese OLED panel makers have been playing catch up to South Korean manufacturers like Samsung and LG. For now, Samsung is still many years ahead of Chinese manufacturers. However, we all know what happened with the LCD panel market. The Chinese took over the market which forced the Koreans to quit making LCD panels. Chinese OLED panel makers like BOE and Visionox are constantly growing.
According to reports, in the second half of 2019, Xiaomi’s orders to Visionox is more than 1 billion yuan ($142.5 million). Also, Huawei orders with Visionox will reach 2.5 billion yuan ($350 million), which is huge. A representative of Visionox sales said that the company’s display orders for Huawei alone will exceed 6 billion ($855 million) in 2021. Visionox has since announced its first on-screen camera technology. While ZTE is the first to use this technology, other top-line brands will follow soon.
Visionox received large AMOLED orders from Huawei and Honor this year. For Huawei, it got over 5 million display panels order. For Honor, Visionox supplied about 10 million display panels.
The company is quite innovative and has a couple of firsts to its name. The first display with an on-screen camera on the ZTE Axon 20 is from Visionox. Also, the display with the world’s highest refresh rate (144Hz) at a time was from Visionox. This company also has the industry’s first 3D hyperboloid flexible screen for smartwatches. It currently has the likes of Xiaomi, ZTE, Huami, LG, Oppo, Motorola, and others in its supply chain.
