Google Pixel 7 / Pro screen specifications leak

At the 2022 I/O developer conference held on May 12, Google previewed a series of hardware products, including a new generation of flagship models, the Google Pixel 7 series. The series will be official later this fall. According to the reports, the Google Pixel 7 will support a 1080 × 2400 resolution display with a 90 Hz refresh rate. However, the Google Pixel 7 Pro has a 1440 × 3120 resolution display with a 120 Hz refresh rate. Well, this is exactly the same as last year’s Google Pixel 6 / 6 Pro display.

The information comes from the Android open source project, and 9to5Google found that Google has created two new display drivers, one for the C10 and one for the P10. This also aligns with the Pixel 7 series codename. The Google Pixel 7 codename is Cheetah while the Pixel 7 Pro is codenamed, Panther.

The code shows that the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro actually use the same Samsung panels as the previous generation. Both smartphones come with model numbers S6E3FC3 and S6E3HC3, respectively.

However, Google has also been working hard to support the S6E3HC4, which should be the next-generation version of the Pixel 6 Pro panel that could eventually appear in the Pixel 7 Pro. Considering that the resolution and refresh rate of the new smartphone remains the same, the improvement may be in terms of quality, brightness, power consumption, etc.

In addition, the Google Pixel 7 will be slightly smaller than the Pixel 6. It will have a correspondingly smaller display panel, 1mm narrower and 2mm shorter. Meanwhile, the Pixel 7 Pro is the same size as the Pixel 6 Pro, with the same screen.

According to reports, the Google Pixel 7 will use a 6.3-inch screen display while the Pixel 7 will use a 6.7-inch screen. Both smartphones will come with an OLED screen that supports a high refresh rate of 120Hz. In addition, the biggest highlight is that the Google Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro are pre-installed with the Android 13 operating system from the factory. They will therefore be the world’s first Android 13 flagship to get FCC certification.

Under the hood, the Pixel 7 series will come with the second-generation Tensor chip, which is undoubtedly even better and faster than its predecessor. This device could come with up to 12GB of RAM and there will most likely be a choice of 128GB and 256GB storage memory.

Of course, the Pixel 7 Pro will not only use a new processor but will also use new software. Work is now underway on Android 13. This new operating system will debut in the Pixel 7 series.  No information is available yet about the battery capacity and charging options. The current Pro model comes with a 5,000 mAh battery that provides a long battery life. Charging is quite slow, the device offers support for 23W fast charging.
