Samsung’s next Galaxy A phone may finally bring a battery upgrade that matters. A new leak says the Galaxy A38 could arrive with a 6,000mAh battery, up from 5,000mAh in the Galaxy A37. That would give the new model 20% more battery capacity.
The report points to a rated capacity of 5,882mAh. Samsung would likely list it as 6,000mAh, as phone makers often use the typical capacity in their specs. The battery is not expected to use silicon-carbon technology, so this boost may come without a new battery type.

A bigger battery, but the same charging speed

The Galaxy A38 is tipped to keep 45W wired charging. That matches the Galaxy A37, so the larger battery may take longer to fill. Still, extra capacity could mean fewer charging stops during the day.
The rest of the phone may look familiar, too. Earlier leaks point to the same cameras as the Galaxy A36 and A37: a 50MP main camera, an 8MP ultra-wide camera, a 5MP macro camera, and a 12MP selfie camera. Samsung has not confirmed these details.

Launch and price

Samsung is expected to reveal the Galaxy A38 alongside the Galaxy A58 in March or April 2027. The A58 may also get a larger battery, but that remains unclear.
Price could be a concern. The Galaxy A36 started at €379, while the A37 launched at €429 and later rose to €469. The A38 could move closer to €500. That would make the battery upgrade welcome, but not enough on its own to justify a steep price rise.

My take

A larger battery is the kind of upgrade many Galaxy A buyers will notice every day. But Samsung seems to be leaving the cameras and charging speed alone. I’d be more excited if the A38 paired its bigger battery with faster charging or a clear camera improvement.
For now, the A38 sounds like a practical refresh rather than a major leap. Its final price and real-world battery life will decide whether it is worth waiting for.
