Insta360 has not announced the Ace Pro 3 yet, but leaks now show much of the plan. New images reveal a redesigned lens and a front screen that works as a viewfinder. An FCC filing adds a larger battery. Together, these changes point to an action camera made for longer shoots. Here is what we know so far, and what remains unproven.

A larger lens housing with Leica branding

The main design change is an octagonal lens housing. It replaces the rounded square shape of the Ace Pro 2 and looks larger in the images.
Leica branding sits next to the lens, so the partnership with the optics brand seems to continue. The leaked renders show black and white versions. The flip screen layout stays, which is good news for current users. The front screen also appears to show the live viewfinder feed. That makes framing easier when you film yourself, although the leak does not show its size or quality.

The battery gets the biggest upgrade

The FCC grant, issued on September 29, lists a 2,250mAh battery. The Ace Pro 2 offers 1,800mAh, so the new cell is about 25% larger. One leaked screen shows around 2 hours and 59 minutes of recording time. That number comes from a leak and not from a lab test, so it may not hold up. In my view, this is the upgrade that matters most. Action cameras tend to run out of power at the worst moment, and more runtime helps more than a new lens shape. The filing also confirms dual-band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

The 1-inch sensor is still unproven

Earlier reports point to a 1-inch class sensor with 50 million pixels. The Ace Pro 2 uses a smaller 1/1.3-inch sensor, so the change would help in low light. However, the FCC filing says nothing about imaging hardware. No leak has shown a photo or video sample either. A larger sensor can also raise the price and the heat inside a small body. Until Insta360 confirms the specs, this claim remains a rumor. Buyers should wait for real test footage.

Launch timing and price remain unknown

Insta360 has released no teaser and no launch date. The Ace Pro arrived in November 2023 and the Ace Pro 2 in October 2024, so a release this month is possible. However, the filing asks for confidentiality until March 2027, which leaves the timing unclear. The price is also unknown, and that detail will decide whether the upgrade makes sense. Owners of the Ace Pro 2 have no reason to rush. They should wait for the official specs and the price before they decide.
