Sony Xperia 5 IV to come with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC and Qi support

Online sources have revealed the alleged specifications of the compact Xperia 5 IV smartphone, which Sony is expected to release towards the end of this year.

The successor to the Xperia 5 III is said to have Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor; and not the Plus version. The chip contains eight computing cores, including the powerful Kryo Prime core clocked at up to 3.0 GHz. The chip includes a new generation Adreno accelerator and a Snapdragon X65 5G modem.

Also, the Xperia 5 IV variants with 8 and 12 GB of RAM will allegedly go on sale. The capacity of the flash drive will be 128 and 256 GB. Power will be provided by a rechargeable battery with a capacity of 5000 mAh; with support for wireless charging using Qi technology.

We are talking about the presence of a display measuring 6.1 inches diagonally. The rear camera will combine three 12-megapixel units (24 mm; 16 mm and 85-125 mm). The resolution of the selfie camera can also be 12 megapixels.

Recall that the current Xperia 5 III smartphone has a 6.1-inch (2520×1080 pixels) Full HD+ OLED HDR Display with 21:9 aspect ratio, 120Hz refresh rate and Corning Gorilla Glass 6 protection. In addition, it runs the Octa-Core Snapdragon 888 5nm Mobile Platform with Adreno 660 GPU; and comes with 8 GB RAM and 128GB (UFS 3.1) internal memory expandable up to 1TB via microSD cards.

Also, the smartphone came out of the box with Android 11; and has three 12Mp rear camera sensors alongside an 8MP front-facing camera. In addition, it has a 3.5 mm audio jack, 360 Reality Audio, 360 Reality Audio hardware decoding, 360 Spatial Sound19, Full-Stage stereo speakers, Dolby Atmos, DSEE Ultimate, Stereo Recording and  Qualcomm aptX HD audio support.

In addition, the smartphone came with a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, and has dimensions of 157 x 68 x 8.2mm and weight 168g. It has water resistant (IPX5/IPX8) and dust proof (IP6X), 5G (sub-6GHz) / 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac (2.4GHz / 5GHz) 2 x 2 MIMO, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS/ GLONASS, NFC and USB 3.1 Type-C support. Finally, the smartphone came with a 4500mAh battery with 30W (USB PD) fast charging and STAMINA Mode support.
