The Swedish telecommunications equipment company Ericsson predicts that 5G mobile plan users will exceed 1 billion in 2022; thanks in large part to the rapid development of the 5G mobile plan in China and North America.

Ericsson is one of the largest suppliers of telecommunications equipment on a par with China’s Huawei and Finland’s Nokia. In its semi-annual Mobility Report, the company said that the weakening global economy and events in Ukraine have lowered forecasts for connection expectations by about 100 million users.

While the number of 5G users increased by 70 million to about 620 million in the first quarter; the number of 4G users grew by 70 million at the same time, to 4.9 billion. Like autonomous driving systems or augmented/virtual reality systems. Growth in the number of 4G users will peak this year and then decline later; due to the spread of fifth generation communications.

By 2022 end, Ericsson predicts 1 billion 5G users subscriptions

Gizchina News of the week

Earlier, Ericsson predicted that the number of 4G users would reach its peak last year. However, as early as 2022, the number of 5G subscribers will exceed 1 billion; indicating that the technology is developing much faster than 4G; which took 10 years after its launch to gain a billion users.

We believe that a lot of the rapid development of 5G was due to the active adoption of the technology by mobile operators and the appearance on sale of cheap 5G smartphones priced from $120. At the same time, about 270 million users were added in China in 2021, and 65 million in North America. We expect that India, where 5G frequencies are currently in trade, will soon make a significant contribution to the development of the corresponding industry. According to Ericsson forecasts, about 30 million 5G subscribers will appear in the country in 2022 and about 50 million more in 2023.

Experts predict that 5G subscriptions will reach 4.4 billion in 2027.
