Sony PS5 players sue Sony for PS5 crash and lost games

A group of users of the Sony PS5 launched a class action lawsuit in the U.S. The players are taking the company to court because of a defect in the Sony PS5. The players are accusing Sony of intentionally concealing the defects in the PS5 console. Illinois resident Christina Trejo sued the company. She alleges in a class-action filing that Sony deliberately conceals a serious bug that would cause the PS5 console system to crash suddenly during gameplay, resulting in the loss of save files.

She further claims that Sony is aware of the defective console through “warranty repair requests and online consumer complaints,” but Sony had deliberately sold millions of PS5s with the same problem. Therefore, the plaintiff’s filing seeks to get Sony to pay damages as punishment for the alleged inaction.

Sony PS5 console is facing some lawsuits

The issue doesn’t seem to affect too many owners of the PlayStation 5. However, this is not the only class-action lawsuit Sony has faced since the PS5’s launch. Sony is also facing a class action lawsuit from last year. The lawsuit alleges that its PlayStation 5 handle “Dualsense” had a “drift” problem. While the drift issue has industry attention because it’s so common, we can not tell if Sony is intentionally hiding the bug that could cause the PlayStation 5 to crash frequently. If the lawsuit is legal, then this is another pretty serious problem for Sony.

We’ll have to wait and see how this case plays out, and whether Sony gets caught up in public opinion for deliberately hiding this particular flaw. As of now, there is no official comment from Sony regarding the latest class action. Nevertheless, Sony will have to put its defence together to attend to the case. If the company is eventually guilty, it may have to pay compensation to the players.
