Lenovo Tab P12 Pro tablet Launch FCC Listing

International Data Corporation (IDC) has published the results of a study of the global tablet market in the second quarter of this year. According to estimates, shipments remained at the level of the second quarter of 2021.

From April to June inclusive, approximately 40.5 million devices were sold globally. For comparison: a year earlier, shipments were 40.4 million units. Thus, IDC recorded a very slight increase – about 0.15%.

Analysts note that deliveries in the past quarter exceeded expectations. This is partly due to good demand for devices from Chinese suppliers Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo and Realme.

In Q2 2021, shipments of tablets worldwide grew just little

The largest vendor in the global tablet market is Apple with a score of around 31.0%. Samsung is in second place with 18.1%, and Amazon closes the top three with 13.6%. The top five also includes Lenovo and Huawei, which control 8.7% and 5.3% of the industry, respectively. The total share of all other vendors was 23.3%.

It is noted that among the listed suppliers of shipment of tablets in the annual comparison; only Amazon was able to increase – plus 26.9%. All other companies from the top five were in the red.

“The tablet market performed better than expected despite the inflationary pressures, geopolitical issues; and continued restrictions in China due to Covid,” said Anuroopa Nataraj, senior research analyst with IDC’s Mobility and Consumer Device Trackers. “There are several factors that are working in favor of tablets: one being the continued demand for tablets as cheaper alternatives to PCs. Also, many top players have been doing a tremendous job with their distribution strategies and have been able to fully supply tablets for several education projects. Also noteworthy is the proliferation of low-cost detachables, especially from new entrants in regions like Asia/Pacific (excluding Japan and China), that are tapping into the demand for devices for education purposes and disrupting the vendor dynamics”.
