iPhone 14 series will fail? Suppliers are not sure about the demand

Apple is doing some important changes with the release of the iPhone 14 series. For instance, the company will bring a design change in years and camera upgrades with the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max. The second is hidden in what we’ve written before, the good things are coming only for the Pro series. The company is ditching the iPhone 14 mini, for a new Max variant, but it’s where the changes are ending. The iPhone 14 and 14 Max will have the same specs as the iPhone 13 series and will keep the display’s design language that has been around since the iPhone X in 2017. Despite this “less flagship” and “more flagship” strategy, Apple is confident in its sales. The suppliers, however, beg to differ.

Suppliers are afraid of low demand for iPhone 14 series

According to supply chain sources at DigiTimes, Apple suppliers are uncertain about the demand for the upcoming iPhone 14 series. Apple and suppliers have been ramping up shipments of components ahead of mass production. The high volume of shipments may start later this month. However, they are not optimistic about the demand for the end of 2022’s final quarter and for the first quarter of 2023. Perhaps, the suppliers are seeing the forecasts of global inflation and are not very optimistic about consumers’ wish to upgrade or purchase a premium device.

Despite this, Apple expects the performance of the iPhone 14 series to be quite good. Back in the last week, Apple has been notifying its suppliers to increase shipments by 5 percent. That means that the company expects at least 95 million units to be shipped in the first months. That is higher than the original expectations.

According to the report, the suppliers are also concerned about the new price hike. The iPhone 14 and Pro series will cost more than their processors. As per analyst Ming-Chi Kup, the price of the new iPhones will increase. However, the storage space of the Pro and Pro Max will start from 256 GB. Apple is also, reportedly ditching the 64 GB version for once and all. Even the basic models may start with 128 GB.
