Vivo is moving on to release its next flagship smartphone under the Vivo X90 series. The new devices are set to appear in December and will bring compelling specifications. The base Vivo X90 is expected to debut the MediaTek Dimensity 9200, while the Vivo X90 Pro+ will pack the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. Today, the higher model passed by the Geekbench website shows its muscles with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset.
Vivo X90 Pro+ performance disclosed
The Geekbench test shows the Vivo V2227A model running with processor “Kalama”. This is the codename for the upcoming Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. Geekbench shows three clusters with a peak performance of 3.19 GHz for the ARM Cortex-X3 core. This variant in question ran Geekbench with 12 GB of RAM and also runs Android 13. The 2023 flagship processor scored 1,485 points in the Single Core tests and 4,739 points in the Multi-Core department. It already shows a significant performance gain for the Vivo X90 Pro+ over the past generation.
Gizchina News of the week
For comparison, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 tops out at 1,200 and 3,200 in the Single and Multi-Core tests respectively. The newer Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, on the other hand, has a higher margin at 1,300 and 4,200, respectively. So, we can already see a decent increase with the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. However, these are benchmark tests based on hardware. In real-world tests, we don’t think users will see much difference between the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. Still, the Vivo X90 Pro+ performance will be top-notch.
The Vivo X90 series will be quite interesting. After all, the company will be launching the new phones straight for the 2023 flagship market, and they will bring cutting-edge processors. The Vivo X90 Pro+ will be a super flagship in other departments. For instance, it will bring ZEISS optics with the company’s new V2 ISP. Moreover, it will have a 6.78-inch curved AMOLED with a 144 Hz refresh rate. It will have UFS 4.0 storage, LPDDR5X RAM, and a 4,700 mAh battery.
We expect the company to begin the teaser campaign in the next month. Until then, the leaks will keep popping out.
