Tile has unveiled its new Anti-Theft Mode for Tile trackers. It’s designed to track your items without alerting thieves that they are being tracked. The new mode also includes features that mitigate the risk of stalking. The company said it will roll out the update over the next few weeks.

According to the company, the new Anti-Theft Mode will make Tile trackers invisible to Scan and Secure. Unlike AirTags, which proactively notify users of AirTags traveling with them, Tile’s new feature allows users to track their items without notifying thieves through audible alerts or pop-up notifications.

Tile announces the ability to make trackers undetectable

Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Life360 Chris Hulls said that “Anti-Theft Mode is the only solution in the Bluetooth finding category designed to make it harder for thieves to get away with valuable things”. He added that the company knows that families don’t have time to misplace their items. And certainly don’t have the time or money to replace them when they get stolen.

While Tile’s network is not as large as Apple’s, it is still quite substantial. Although it is not owned by Amazon, it is connected to Amazon’s Sidewalk network of Alexas and Echos, which could potentially replicate the same stalking issues seen on AirTags. Tile is aware of this, and to use the new feature, users will have to submit and verify their ID. Which pairs with a biometric facial scan. This will allow users to turn on the feature. And if caught stalking, it will be easy to report the person to law enforcement. Anyone caught and convicted of using Tile trackers in this way will face a $1 million fine. In addition to any other legal sanctions.

Tile acknowledged that location sharing and finding have become part of their daily fabric. And as such, the company develops products for the vast majority of people who use them as intended. For those who do not, Tile is cooperating fully with law enforcement. They add that to meaningfully address stalking with technology, safeguards like ID registration of all location-enabled devices that are small enough to be planted on a person must be implemented. So that the police have the information to pursue justice for victims.

Gizchina News of the week

Overall, Tile’s new Anti-Theft Mode offers users a solution that empowers them with a choice. They can make their devices invisible to Scan and Secure if they wish and sleep a little easier at night. Knowing Tile is doing everything it can to protect their valuables. While the feature may not be foolproof, it represents a significant step towards reducing the risk of theft and stalking.

Tile trackers

For those who don’t know, Tile trackers are small, Bluetooth-enabled devices that are designed to help you keep track of your personal things. Such as keys, wallets, and other items that tend to get misplaced or lost easily. The Tile tracker works by connecting to your smartphone via Bluetooth. And sending out a signal that can help you locate the item they attach to.

One of the key features of Tile trackers is that they are relatively small. And can attach to a variety of items using an adhesive or keyring loop. When you misplace an item, you can use the Tile app on your smartphone to make the Tile tracker emit a sound. Helping you locate the item.

Tile trackers also have a community feature that allows you to ask the help of other Tile users to locate a lost item. If you mark an item as lost in the Tile app, other Tile users in the area can receive a notification if their phone comes into range of your Tile tracker. Helping to increase the chances of recovering the lost item.

Overall, Tile trackers are a useful tool for anyone who frequently misplaces items or wants to keep better track of their belongings.
