Elon Musk brings sad news for Tesla Cybertruck “believers”

The Tesla Cybertruck probably is the most hyped-ever product in the company’s portfolio. The legendary pickup stole the spotlight when announced due to its very unusual, yet futuristic or spaceship-inspired design. The product was announced several years ago but is still giving slow steps to actually become a reality. Back in 2019, the plan was to launch this unique pickup for a lean price of $39,900. The product was promising, but apparently, it may be different from the one announced. Today, Elon Musk brought some news that may leave believers upset.

The specs and the pricing may be different from 2019

During the 2022 Tesla Shareholder Metting earlier this month, Elon Musk revealed to the crowd that wider economic troubles have impacted their plans to roll out the Cybertruck. Moreover, he states that the price “will be different” from the initial promises. I have to say that a price change may not be a big surprise.

The economic situation in 2023 is much different from 2019. We had a pandemic, a war, and a big crisis in the components industry. We can also cite the constraints involving Tesla after Elon Musk’s struggle with Twitter. As per Elon Musk, a lot has changed since 2019. For that reason: “The specs and the pricing will be different – I hate to sort of give a little bit of bad news – but there’s no way to sort of have anticipated quite the inflation that we’ve seen and the various issues” he added. We are curious to see how much the final product will differ from the 2019’s concept.

Musk gave few other details about the release of the pickup other than a few comments. Despite this, he was keen to pump some promotion around the vehicle. As per him, the pickup will be “one hell of a product. It’s going to be like a damn fine machine”.

Gizchina News of the week

The pickup is a battery-electric light-duty truck capable, in theory, of bursting from 0 to 100 Km/h in under 3 seconds. That’s impressive! It also boasts a “futuristic” angular design, which gave him certain attention from enthusiasts. However, after several years, we don’t have an idea of when the vehicle will be ready for the road.

The Tesla Cybetruck is equipped with a stainless steel exoskeleton and a bulletproof body. Moreover, it will come with some of Tesla’s tech advances. For instance, it will bring Autopilot, allowing the vehicle to drive itself on highways and perform other tasks automatically. The car boasts an electric motor and can travel up to 500 miles on a single charge. It can be a revolutionary product in the segment of pickups. But right now, it’s unclear whether all 2019 specs will make their way to the final product.

The Cybertruck can be a triumph for Elon Musk

Recently, Tesla had some issues after Elon Musk’s deal with Twitter and all its issues. The brand lost some market value but has been quick to recover the losses. Although many have expected the company to suffer a great impact, the results actually prove otherwise.  Tesla is now turning every $100 of revenue into $26 of profit after production costs. That is the widest gross margin since the company started selling more than 50,000 cars annually in 2015.

Tesla also scores the highest profit margin among the 10 largest automakers, providing a huge competitive advantage by allowing it to invest more money in car improvements. Recently, the company offered a lot of discounts for people buying Tesla cars in the United States. That ended up bringing very positive results to the brand which experienced a rise in demand. Now, we are curious to see if 2023 is the year when the Cybertruck will finally reach the market to attract even more loyal fans.
