The new Xbox Series X|S Dashboard is the best one yet.

Xbox

If you’re an Xbox fan, you’ll know that both the Series X and S have always had an awful dashboard. The dashboard has always felt cluttered, and the ad-filled user interface made things even worse. But Microsoft finally heard our cries. These issues seem to be getting addressed with a revamped dashboard recently released to Xbox Insiders.

What issues does the new dashboard solve?

The new dashboard seeks to solve problems from the previous dashboard iterations. Some of these issues include limited background visibility and the cluttered Home Screen.

According to a post on Xbox Wire, the new dashboard should meet user expectations and improve the Xbox X|S user experience.

Changes brought about by the new dashboard

As pointed out earlier, this new Xbox Series X|S dashboard seeks to provide a cleaner look and improve the overall user experience. The new dashboard:

  • Makes it easier to move around by adding a new quick access menu at the top of your Xbox Home screen.
  • Makes the dashboard less cluttered by reducing the size of some tiles and placing them at the bottom of your screen.
  • Adds a feature that adjusts the game art background so you can still see it when selecting a tile on the dashboard.

The My Games & Apps tile will also get notifications to inform you about new releases or when something demands your attention.

When to expect the new Xbox Series X|S dashboard

At the time of writing this article, the new dashboard is only available to Xbox Insiders on the Alpha rings. There’s no word from Microsoft of when we should expect an official public release. And although you can enroll in the Insider program at any point, theirs a  catch. The Alpha Skip-Ahead and Alpha rings necessary for accessing the new dashboard are exclusive tiers of Xbox Insider that require an invitation.

However, Xbox Wire has stated that anyone can ask for an invitation to join. As time passes, more individuals will likely get access to the updated dashboard. Furthermore, we expect more updates before the dashboard is officially launched.

In conclusion, participating in the Xbox Insider and Research programs has its advantages. You get to impact and enhance the future of Xbox while also getting early access to upcoming features.
