The Google Pixel 8 series brought a lot of upgrades over its predecessor. But among all, the “Actua” and “Super Actua” displays of the devices are one of the biggest highlights. They are among the best displays around. And it seems that Google was under-promising the capabilities of the panel on the non-Pro model.

Google Pixel 8 Pro was advertised with a peak brightness of 2400 NITS. On the other hand, Google said that the non-Pro model can hit 2000 NITS. But a recent has revealed that the display of the non-Pro model is a little more impressive than originally advertised.

Test Reveals How Good the Display of the Google Pixel 8 Is

Before anything else, you need to understand what peak brightness rating means. Google utilizes a “5% on-pixel” ratio to come up with these calculations. In simpler words, you won’t see the Google Pixel 8 devices hit their peak brightness rating in real-life usage. Instead, the displays crank up to their max when viewing HDR content.

As for regular day-to-day usage, Google says that the Pixel 8 Pro can offer 1400 NITS. But, according to the test, the phone can actually offer 1600 NITS. Of course, the “Smooth Display” mode needs to be turned on to make the device hit such high brightness. Without that, the day-to-day usage brightness aligns with what Google advertised the phone with.

In other words, the display has revealed that the Pixel 8 gets an extra 200 NITS when the “Smooth Display” mode is on. For those unaware, this mode basically enables 120Hz, which offers a better and smoother visual experience.

That said, the test didn’t find anything interesting about the Google Pixel 8 Pro, though. And if you want to get more information on how the displays, you can check out the test details on this link.
