Switching phones has become easier in recent years. Cloud backups and better software help a lot. But transferring eSIMs is still tricky. This is especially true when moving from an iPhone to an Android phone. Luckily, this is about to change.

Apple to Make eSIM Transfers from iPhone to Android Easier with iOS 19

AndroidAuthority reports that Apple is working on a new feature for iOS 19. This feature will let users transfer their eSIM profiles from an iPhone to an Android device with ease. The feature is called “Transfer to Android”. This name was found in the iOS 19 code.

Here is how it will work: the iPhone will generate a QR code. Then, the Android phone can scan this code to add the eSIM profile. Right now, people must get a QR code from their carrier. This can be slow and frustrating. Apple’s new way will remove the need to contact carriers.

However, this feature will only work on phones running iOS 19 or newer. If your phone has an older iOS version, you won’t be able to use it.

Apple May Introduce Easy eSIM Transfers from iPhone to Android

This update matters a lot in the U.S. All new iPhones sold there have no physical SIM slots. They use eSIMs only. So far, if you wanted to switch phones, you had to call your carrier to transfer the eSIM. It was a hassle. With this new feature, moving your eSIM will be quick and simple.

We should learn more about this feature soon. Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) is scheduled for June 9-13. This event is when Apple usually announces new software updates. If Apple confirms this, switching from iPhone to Android will be much easier.

In short, Apple is making it simpler for users to switch phones. This shows they are paying attention to user needs. It also makes the tech world a little more connected.
