Samsung’s One UI 8 Brings Two Big Camera Changes to Foldables

One UI 8

Samsung has rolled out its new One UI 8, and one of the standout updates is a better camera interface. The first phone to get this upgrade is the new Galaxy Z Fold 7, Samsung’s most advanced and thinnest foldable phone yet. It’s packed with top-tier features, but the changes to the camera app are what really stand out for users who love photography.

What’s New in the Camera App?

The biggest changes in One UI 8 affect a special feature called Capture View. This mode has been around since the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and is made just for foldable phones. It lets users see recent photos on one side of the screen while the other half stays as the live camera view. This makes it easy to check shots without leaving the camera. Now, with One UI 8, this feature looks and works even better.

Centered Preview for the Latest Photos

In Capture View’s earlier iterations, the most recent photos were displayed at the top of the screen. This has changed in One UI 8. The preview has been moved to the center, akin to how recent applications are displayed on the home screen.

A Smarter 3D Carousel

The 3D carousel has also been updated. This part of the app shows your recent photos in a sliding strip that looks more modern and is easier to scroll through. It’s now easier to tell images apart and pick the one you want. The carousel also has a three-button toolbar. These buttons let you favourite, share, or delete a photo right away without opening extra menus.

Which Phones Get These Changes?

The Galaxy Z Fold 7 debuts alongside One UI 8, showcasing a redesigned photographic arrangement. However, Samsung has acknowledged that three previous generations—the Galaxy Z Fold 6, Galaxy Z Fold 5, and Galaxy Z Fold 4—are also scheduled to receive this updated interface in the near future.

Sadly, the Galaxy Z Fold 3, which was initially released in 2021, is not included in this deployment. After four major updates, the One UI 7 is the final major software update for that model. One UI 8, which offers a more responsive and intuitive photographic interface, improves the entire user experience of Samsung’s foldable flagships.
