WhatsApp just dropped a new beta update (version 2.26.1.14) for Android, and it’s finally giving Channel admins something more useful than a basic poll. We’re talking about Quizzes. If you’ve ever wanted to actually test your followers rather than just asking for their "vibes" on a topic, this is the tool you’ve been waiting for.

Key Points
  • Correct Answer Mapping: Admins must select a correct answer before publishing a quiz.
  • Gamified Feedback: Users get an instant confetti animation when they select the right answer.
  • Visual Options: Quizzes support text and image-based answer choices for better engagement.
  • Admin Insights: Creators can track participation rates and see which contacts got the answer right.
  • Beta Status: Currently available to select testers on WhatsApp for Android version 2.26.1.14.

How the New Quizzes Work

Admins can find the "Quiz" option right in the same attachment menu where you find Polls and Questions. It looks almost identical to a poll, but the logic is totally different. Instead of just letting people pick an option to see what’s popular, the admin has to pre-select the correct answer before the post goes live.

When your followers see the quiz, they tap the answer they think is right. If they nail it, WhatsApp triggers a confetti animation on their screen. It’s a small, cheesy touch, but it makes the whole thing feel way more interactive than just clicking a bubble and moving on.

Why Admins Will Actually Use This

The best part isn't just the confetti; it’s the data. Once people start answering, you get a full breakdown of the results. You can see the percentage of people who got it right and, if the participants are in your contacts, you can see exactly who picked what. For creators, educators, or brands, this is a goldmine for seeing who is actually paying attention to your content.
You can even add images to each answer choice. This opens up a ton of possibilities—like "Identify this landmark" or "Which product is the newest release?" It turns a static broadcast channel into something that feels more like a game.

The Catch (For Now)

Right now, this is strictly a beta release. Google Play Beta testers on Android are getting it first, though there are signs it’s hitting iOS testers too. WhatsApp usually takes its sweet time with global rollouts for Channels, so if you’re on the stable version of the app, you might be waiting a few weeks. But once it lands, expect your favorite channels to get a lot more competitive.
