Google Duo: video calls of up to 32 participants in the browser soon

With hundreds of millions of people still confined to their homes due to the Covid-19 pandemic, applications and services for making video calls are more popular than ever. Developers also take the opportunity to adapt their offers. This is the case for example for Google Duo. According to Google, the service will soon make it possible to take advantage of video calls directly via the web.

Group video calls soon available on the Google Duo web version

Until now, calls on Duo were only available via the iOS or Android mobile app. According to an official press release from Google, “in the coming weeks, you will be able to make video calls with Duo on the web, starting with Chrome, and also take advantage of a new on-screen layout allowing you to see more people at the same time”. This is a very welcome improvement. We even wonder why this was not possible until today. The fact remains that this novelty will undoubtedly allow us to further increase its user base.

Gizchina News of the week

Recall that, a few days ago, Google Duo has updated its application to support a maximum of 12 participants. But in the coming weeks that number will grow to allow a maximum of 32 participants.

Google announced at the same time that it would be easier to join a video conference by simply clicking on a link. “To further simplify meetings, you can invite anyone with a Google account to join a group call with a single link.” Duo has been around for several years now, but the explosion in popularity of Zoom has given ideas to many developers of similar services and apps. Microsoft did the same with Skype, and Facebook introduced group video calling functionality into its Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp services. As Google specifies, we will have to wait a few more weeks before being able to take advantage of it.

Google Duo video calling app is good. Alternatively, you may try other video calling and conferencing apps like R-HUB HD video conferencing servers. It works on iOS, Android, Windows, MAC etc. and provides 30 way HD video calling.
