iPhone 13 Camera Parts Are Already Mass-Produced

iPhone 13 series

Usually, the Cupertino company launches the iPhones in mid-September. But last year, because of the pandemic, it had to delay launch of the iPhone 12 by one month. As for the upcoming iPhone 13 series, it seems Apple will be back to the regular schedule. Various reports claim that the company has already accessed plenty of critical components needed to manufacture the next-gen handsets.

The iPhone 13 will look identical to the iPhone 12. Also, it will offer the same four variants, including the vanilla version, the Pro and Pro Max variants and the mini version. However, at this time, it will have a smaller notch due to the new technology adopted by Apple. Plus, many other sources claim the iPhone 13 will get a few significant camera upgrades this year. The information comes from the suppliers that are making the camera parts and other components.

The sources pointed out that the next-generation iPhones are expected to have upgrades in camera modules and 3D sensors for Face ID, resulting in increasing use of VCMs, said the sources adding that Apple has also asked related component suppliers to increase their capacities by 30-40% in order to meet its demand.

The report from Digitimes says that Huawei has lowered its orders for camera parts after the US sanctions. But OPPO, Xiaomi and VIVO have increased orders filling the gap. However, all these manufacturers still yield Apple in terms of volume. They say “overall VCM shipments to Apple is expected to reach the same level as those to the Android camp as a whole.”

What Is VCM?

By the way, the VCM parts are essential camera parts. As MacRumors explains, every new iPhone requires more and more VCM components from model to model. Say, VCM includes camera lens focus functions. And as Apple has increased the number of cameras and their quality over the years, it’s logical the iPhone 13 will need more camera parts.

As for the iPhone 13 camera, it should come with a sensor-shift optical image stabilization module. The latter has been exclusive to the iPhone 12 Pro Max last year. But now, all models from the upcoming series will carry it. This is one of the main reasons why the new camera modules take up more space.

Other improvements refer to the ultra-wide camera lens. According to various leaks, iPhone 13 Pro models will sport an f/1.8 aperture ultra-wide camera and a six-element lens. If believing in many other sources, all four iPhone 13 models will feature it. At last, the forthcoming models will come with better astrophotography features. Say, they should take Portrait Mode videos.
