Facebook launched today its own dedicated application for Samsung's Gear VR called Facebook 360 app, especially designed for the aforementioned headset. If you're an owner of a Gear VR you can download the app through the Oculus app on Samsung handsets (as long as they're compatible of course).
The reason for creating the Facebook 360 app is simple: easy, unobstructed access to millions of 360-degree videos and photos that are available from the huge social network. Currently the app offers more than 1 million different 360 degree videos and almost 25 million similar images.

Using the Facebook 360 app through your Gear VR you can gain access to your timeline, check all the different stuff you have saved, or even discover new features and pleasantries. There's also an "Explore" section that allows you to have a peek of the hottest 360-degree content available each day.
