Alleged Mini iPad Leak Shows No Rear Camera

Are Apple heading down the Nexus 7 route for their rumored iPad mini with 7 inch display? according to this leaked photo from Weibo it seems yes they are!

This photo of what is rumored to be the rear casing of the mini iPad showed up on Sina Weibo recently and spotted by the guys over at Engadget.

The case shows a more square edged design rear that we are used to on Apple's iPads, but most interestingly shows that there is no hole for a rear camera suggesting that Apple could have axed the rear lens to reduce costs and compete against Google's Nexus 7 tablet which also lacks a rear camera.

Chances are that the mini iPad with 7 inch screen will get a front camera still so that users can still make use of Facetime. If this turns out to be a real leaked mini iPad we wonder when we will start to see more images, and if Apple's September event will hold more surprises than just the new iPhone.
