Hours after the official launch of
the
iPhone 17 series, major changes have been made to its predecessor. Apple
has decided to discontinue and drop the
prices of some devices in the
iPhone 16
series.
The
iPhone 16 Pro and
iPhone 16 Pro Max are no longer available, while
the prices for the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus have been cut down. The new
lineup for the series starts with the iPhone 16e, followed by the iPhone 16 and
iPhone 16 Plus.
Price Cuts
for iPhone 16 Models
The
prices on the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus were slashed by Apple to drive new
customers to the devices. The new prices of these iPhones are as follows
- iPhone 16 (128GB) - $699
- iPhone 16 Plus (128GB) - $799
- iPhone 16 Plus (256GB) - $799
This move makes the iPhone 16 range
a more budget-friendly choice for those who don’t need the newest features but
still want a modern device.
However, it is quite weird that the 128GB and 256GB model of the Plus variant has the same price tag. Obviously, once the 256GB model is out of stock, buyers will have no option but to settle for the 128GB model.
A
New Era with iPhone 17
At
its “Awe Dropping” event, Apple unveiled four new models, which are the iPhone
17, iPhone Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max. All four now feature a
smooth 120Hz display for the first time across the entire lineup.
The design has been refreshed, and
all models include improved cameras, including better selfie shooters. Apple,
with its hardware update, aims to be a few steps ahead of its competition by
delivering sharper images and smoother performance.
Apple’s
Strategy Going Forward
By
dropping the Pro models from last year and slashing prices on the iPhone 16 and
16 Plus, Apple is clearly reshaping its smartphone strategy.
The company is
giving customers the opportunity to either go for the discounted older models
or try out the all-new iPhone 17 series.
The change in prices could increase
the market scope for Apple, at a time when other brands are releasing amazing
devices at a cheaper cost.
