Like many we were under the impression that all of the iPhone 4S updates were under the skin and that the iPhone 4 and new iPhone 4S share the exact same external appearance and dimensions.
However they do not! and the iPhone 4S is actually slightly different externally to the iPhone 4.
It seems that while Apple’s boffins have played about with improving the iPhone 4S’s CPU, camera, screen and antennas, they have also rearranged a few things including the mute switch and volume buttons.

While it may not seem like a huge change, the slight modification is likely to please iPhone case, cover and bumper manufacturers around the globe, who without the change may have seen dwindling demand.
