CHUWI Launches GTBook X: A $999 Gaming Laptop Featuring Full-Power RTX 3050, Intel Core 7 230H, and 144Hz Display

As gaming laptops continue to creep into premium price territory, CHUWI is taking a different approach with its latest machine. The company has officially launched the GTBook X, a 15.6-inch gaming laptop that combines an Intel Core 7 processor with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Laptop GPU, while keeping the price below the $1,000 mark.

The GTBook X is aimed at students, first-time gaming laptop buyers, and users who want a machine capable of handling games, productivity, and AI-related workloads without moving into the increasingly expensive high-end gaming laptop segment.

According to CHUWI 's CEO Jesea Yang, the company wanted to focus on the essentials, including a full-power GPU, a high-refresh-rate display, and user-upgradable hardware.

GTBook X: A Gaming Beast With A Full-Power RTX 3050

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Laptop GPU is one of the main selling points of the GTBook X. CHUWI says the GPU can operate at up to 80W TGP, paired with 4GB of GDDR6 VRAM.

Power limits can make a significant difference with laptop GPUs, particularly during longer gaming sessions. While some entry-level RTX 3050 laptops use considerably lower power configurations, CHUWI gives the GPU more room to maintain performance.

When connected to AC power and running in Turbo Mode, the included 180W power adapter allows the system to reach up to 140W of combined CPU and GPU power. The CPU can operate at up to 45W, while NVIDIA Dynamic Boost allows the GPU to reach up to 95W.

The RTX 3050 also brings NVIDIA's second-generation RT cores and third-generation Tensor Cores, enabling features such as hardware-accelerated ray tracing and DLSS in supported games. The Tensor Cores can also be used for certain creative and AI workloads.

Intel Core 7 230H Takes Care of the CPU Side

The graphics are paired with the Intel Core 7 230H, a relatively recent mobile processor introduced in 2026.

The chip uses a hybrid architecture with six Performance-cores and four Efficient-cores, giving it a total of 10 cores and 16 threads. It can reach up to 5.2GHz and features 24MB of Intel Smart Cache.

CHUWI also cites a PassMark score of 24,533 for the processor, placing it ahead of processors such as the AMD Ryzen 5 7535HS and Intel Core i7-13620H in the company's comparison.

Of course, benchmark results can vary depending on the system configuration and workload, but the combination of the Core 7 230H and RTX 3050 gives the GTBook X a fairly capable foundation for a sub-$1,000 gaming laptop.

Cooling Designed for Sustained Performance

Getting the most out of this hardware requires more than simply increasing power limits. CHUWI has equipped the GTBook X with a cooling system featuring five heat pipes, two high-speed fans, and high-density copper fins.

The cooling system is designed to handle the laptop's 140W combined CPU and GPU power envelope in Turbo Mode.

There is also a dedicated Mode Button that lets users switch between three performance profiles. Office Mode prioritizes battery life and quieter operation, Balance Mode aims for a middle ground, while Turbo Mode opens up the laptop's higher power limits for demanding workloads and gaming.

16GB RAM and Two M.2 Slots

The GTBook X comes with 16GB of DDR4-3200 memory and a 512GB PCIe NVMe SSD out of the box.

More importantly, both components can be upgraded. The laptop has two SO-DIMM slots, supporting up to 64GB of RAM, along with two M.2 2280 slots for additional storage.

The M.2 slots support PCIe 4.0 x4, giving users room to expand storage as their game library grows. CHUWI is also avoiding soldered memory, which makes the GTBook X more flexible than some compact laptops.

15.6-Inch 144Hz Display

The laptop features a 15.6-inch Full HD IPS display with a resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels and a 144Hz refresh rate.

The high refresh rate should be particularly useful in fast-paced games such as competitive shooters and racing titles, where smoother motion can make the experience feel more responsive.

It is not a high-resolution panel, but Full HD is still a sensible match for an RTX 3050 Laptop GPU. Pushing 1080p also puts less pressure on the GPU than higher-resolution displays, which is useful for an entry-level gaming machine.

Plenty of Ports for a Gaming Laptop

CHUWI has also packed the GTBook X with a fairly extensive selection of connectivity options.

The laptop includes HDMI 2.1 and Mini DisplayPort 1.4, both capable of driving external displays at up to 4K and 120Hz. There is also a USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 port, two USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 ports, a USB-A 2.0 port, Gigabit Ethernet, and a full-size SD card reader.

Wireless connectivity comes through Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2.

The keyboard has RGB backlighting, while the laptop ships with Windows 11 Pro.
