Everybody knows how frustrating it is to search for a
Wi-Fi code. It could be in a router label, an old jotter, or some app that you use rarely. The good news is your phone already has the code if it’s on the network. And once your phone learns it, you can tap out that code on any other device.
This little trick saves time and spares you the effort of searching for long passwords. It’s available on iPhones, iPads, Macs, and Android phones. Each device does it differently, but the steps are simple.
Share the Code Between Apple Devices
If you have two
Apple devices, this is the simplest way. Ensure both devices are close by. Open up the Wi-Fi menu on your brand new friend and tap the network you desire.
On your old device, you should see a pop-up that will let you share the password. Tap Share Password. The new device will be added to network.
This method also applies for syncing between Macs and iPhones or iPads. You can share the password in either direction, provided that those are devices registered to people who appear on their Contacts list.
The downside is that this only works between Apple devices. You can’t pass a password from an iPhone to an Android phone. In that case, you need a different path.
View the Wi-Fi Code on an iPhone or iPad
You do not always need the automatic pop-up. Sometimes, the pop-up does
not even arrive. You can still see the password without the pop-up. First, go
to settings and then click on Wi-Fi. Then search for the network name. You will
see the password under the row of dots.
Click on that row and your mobile phone will ask for the passcode. It
may also require your Touch ID or Face ID. Once you insert it, you will see the
real password.
You can then give the password to whoever needs it. This solution will
be useful if you when you attempt to connect to devices that is not compatible
like a speaker, TV or console.
Use Quick Share on Android
Android phones offer a fast way of their own. An Android phone can transmit a password to another Android phone if it is already connected to the network.
Depending on your phone, select Network & internet or Connections after Settings opens. The Wi-Fi network must be tapped. Next, select Share or Share Network. Select Quick Share.
Tap the other Android phone if it's listed.
In just a few seconds, the new phone will establish a network connection and send the password.
Only Android phones with Quick Share enabled can use this feature. There's another easy method if that doesn't work for you.
Scan a QR Code to Join the Network
You can use a
QR code in the event that
Quick Share is disabled or unsupported. Navigate to the Wi-Fi settings on the Android phone that is already connected, then select Share once more.
A QR code will appear on your phone. Point the new device's camera at the code after opening it. Tap the network name when it appears. The gadget will automatically connect after reading the password.
This technique is quick, tidy, and compatible with the majority of contemporary Android phones. Setup is made further simpler by the ability of some smart home appliances to scan QR codes.
Show the Wi-Fi Code on an Android Phone
Many Android models allow you to enter the password in plain text. A little crossed-out eye icon appears next to the network name on certain Samsung devices. Verify your identity by tapping it. The password will show up.
Once you select Share, other Android phones display the password beneath the QR code. When someone needs to type it in by hand, this makes it simple to read or repeat.
Why These Tricks Matter
Wi-Fi passwords keep getting longer. Many networks now use random strings that are almost impossible to remember. Typing them can be slow and annoying, especially when you mix up characters.
These phone tools remove that pain. They help you connect guests, family members, or new gadgets without stress. You tap, scan, or share, and that’s it.
It also keeps things safer. You don’t need to write your password on paper or send it around in chat apps. Your phone handles the process in a secure way.
