Ubisoft has surprised its fans by announcing the cancellation of the remake of the Prince of Persia : The Sands of Time. This comes as a surprise to many gamers , but it is not the only shocker. The company also cut out five other titles, making a total of six projects that were eliminated.

Big Names and Secret Plans Cut

The most important cancellation news is the remake of the Sands of Time. This title was first announced in 2020.
Another project that was cancelled is Project Ether , which began in 2019, though some members of the team have moved to new projects.
Project Pathfinder, once known as Project U, is also gone. Project Crest, said to be a World War II evacuation shooter game, has been cut too.
In the Assassin’s Creed line, the firm has made key moves. Assassin’s Creed Rebellion will no longer get new support. And a fresh mobile game, Assassin’s Creed: Singularity, has been shut down before it could even launch.

A Hard Year for Ubisoft

These cancellations mean that the company has been under strain for a while. In past years, Ubisoft has also axed many games. Big plans take time and cash, and not all make it to the end. There were also rumours of a multi-mode Assassin’s Creed game that got cancelled. Still, that one is said to be apart from this set. Game development is a tough road. Ideas shift. Costs rise. Not all bets pay off.

Not All Hope Is Lost

It is not all bad news, though. There are reports that the company is still working on the remake of Assassin’s Creed IV : Black Flag. Rumour says it may be launched as soon as April this year. For now, fans wait. Six games are gone , but more may rise in their place. This is not the first time that Ubisoft is hitting the reset button , and it probably won't be the last.
