Huawei Nova 3e Announced: Thinner Than the iPhone X

On March 20, Huawei held a conference in Changsha and officially released a full-screen phone named the Huawei Nova 3e. This is the first bangs screen phone of the company to launch in China. Not accidentally, it’s compared to the iPhone X. Although these handsets focus on various customers groups. As for the Nova-series models, they have been always aiming at younger customers.

First, the Huawei Nova 3e has a larger display area of 8140mm² than the iPhone X (8047mm²). At the same time, the bangs part is smaller than the iPhone X’s corresponding part. Moreover, the company continues focusing on high-value and double-glazed glass fuselage streamlined with a nanoscale micro-processing technology. It adopts a 5.8-inch next-gen full-screen design with a resolution of 2280x1080 (19:9) and NTSC 95% color gamut. To provide a higher screen ratio the manufacturer has had to use custom micro-cameras, periscope-based micro-handsets, and multi-band antenna technology. The body uses 2.5D glass and metal frame. It has a USB Type-C port. There are a few color options including the Klein Blue, Cherry Powder, Magic Night Black, and Platinum Light Gold. The most special Klein Blue variant comes our way from the French artist Yves Klein. It weighs 145 grams.

Under the hood, the Huawei Nova 3e carries a Kirin 659 chip, which is paired with a 4GB of RAM and 64/128GB of native storage. The built-in 3000mAh battery supports 18W (9V2A) fast charge.

However, as we are dealing with a phone designed for younger customers, it’s reasonable to see the camera as the main selling point. A dual-camera is placed on the back vertically. It is accompanied by a fingerprint scanner. On the front, the Huawei Nova 3e uses the world’s first Sony IMX576 24MP sensor, the resolution of which is increased by 22%, while the dark light noise is reduced by 33%, and the color reproduction is increased by 26%. This sensor also supports a new-gen of natural beauty algorithms and hardware-level HDR, 4-in-1 light fusion technology, and LCD smart fill light. The main camera uses a 16+2MP sensors combination that supports portrait mode and comes with a large aperture.

As for software, the Huawei Nova 3e comes with an EMUI 8.0 based on Android 8.0. It supports multiple new features such as smart screen recognition, smart scenarios, intelligent voice, no-disturb mode, one-button split screen, dual Bluetooth (two Bluetooth devices can be connected), privacy space fingerprint one-click switching, payment security center, Huawei security keyboard, mobile phone recovery and other functions. Plus, it comes with a built-in game assistant and can shield various pop-up windows. In addition, the Huawei Nova 3e also supports raising the screen and unlocking the face features. This can effectively resist the unlocking of photos and videos accidentally.
