UPDATE: There are conflicting reports as to if the delay for the UMi X2 is true or not, however Chinese media are reporting that the delay is true and it is due to problems with the RAM, as we stated. UMi Europe are also saying the reports are true on their Facebook page here. We're following this closely and will let you all know if there are any changes/updates. Bad
news UMi
X2 fans, UMi have informed the
Chinese media that the
X2 will be delayed due to optimisation issues, however the
quad-core UMi
X1S is ready and waiting in the ranks!
Thousands of hopeful UMi
X2 fans are going to be highly disappointed this weekend as UMi have broken the news that the
X2 won't be launching as soon as they had hoped, and instead the
updated X1S will see production first!
Apparently the
delay is due to optimisation issues with the Mediatek
MT6589 quad-core processor accepting 2GB RAM! This actually explains why 'Youth' versions of popular MT6589
phones have been appearing on sale, not to mention the 1GB
RAM UMi
X2 video we posted earlier today.
On the other hand the UMi X1s is ready to rock with supply chains confirmed and the factory prepared to start manufacture. The UMi X1S is an updated version of the X1 which launched last year and actually features the same hardware but with an updated quad-core MT6589 CPU.
For those of you not familiar with the UMi X1S the phone packs 1GB RAM, 8 mega-pixel rear
camera, 2 mega-pixel front camera, 4.5-inch IPS display with 1280 x 720 HD resolution and Gorilla Glass 2 plus Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.
Pricing for the UMi X1S, which will be available in both black and white will be 999 Yuan ($160)
