After a long wait,
MediaTek finally brings the
Dimensity 9500 - its most powerful mobile chip yet. The launch
comes just a day before Qualcomm’s next flagship reveal. The stage is now set for the clash of flagship chipsets. How will MediaTek stand in the market? Keep reading.
The MediaTek Dimensity 9500 Brings Major Performance Upgrades
The Dimensity 9500 uses the newest Arm CPU cores in an all-big-core design. It has one C1-Ultra core at 4.21GHz, three C1-Premium cores, and four C1-Pro cores. MediaTek says this makes single-core tasks 32% faster and multi-core tasks 17% faster than the Dimensity 9400. The main core uses 55% less power at full speed, and multitasking is 30% more efficient.
Faster Storage and Graphics
The chip supports four-channel UFS 4.1 storage. This doubles data speeds compared to the previous generation. The Arm G1-Ultra GPU also improves graphics. It offers 33% higher performance and 42% better efficiency. Ray tracing is more than twice as fast, and it can run games at 120fps with frame interpolation. The GPU works with Vulkan ray tracing and Unreal Engine 5 tools like Nanite and MegaLights.
AI and Camera Upgrades
The NPU 990 with Generative AI Engine 2.0 gives twice the AI power of the previous chip. It works with BitNet 1.58-bit models. This means tasks run faster and use less energy. MediaTek says it can handle 3-billion-parameter models twice as fast. It also manages long 128K-token tasks and can create 4K images while using 56% less power.
The Imagiq 1190 camera chip supports photos up to 200MP. It can track focus at 30 frames per second and record 4K video at 60fps. The display also improves with MiraVision Adaptive Display for clearer and brighter visuals.
Better Connectivity
The Dimensity 9500 uses 10% less power on 5G and 20% less on Wi-Fi. It supports 5CC carrier aggregation for faster data speeds. AI helps GPS be 20% more accurate and cuts network lag in half.
Phones with this chip, like the Oppo Find X9 Pro and Vivo X300, are expected later this year.
