Oppo has officially unveiled
ColorOS 16, its next major
software upgrade built on Android 16. The update will roll out to 43 Oppo
phones and tablets, starting in China on October 30. The Find X9 and Find X9
Pro will be the first devices to launch with the new software, while existing
models will begin receiving updates soon after. The company says global rollout
plans will be shared later.
A Fresh
Look and Feel
ColorOS 16 introduces a redesigned interface that
Oppo
describes as being inspired by the “interplay of light and shadow” in nature.
The update brings a softer look, smoother movements, and cleaner animations
throughout the system. Everything feels more natural and easier on the eyes,
making wallpapers and widgets stand out in a nicer way.
Seamless
Animation and Performance
A lot of the real changes happen behind the scenes. Oppo
has added a new feature called Seamless Animation that makes switching between
apps, screens, and widgets feel effortless. Whether you’re opening an app,
scrolling through menus, or jumping between tasks, ColorOS 16 feels faster and
more responsive. The company says it’s worked on cutting down tiny stutters and
touch delays, especially on phones with high refresh rate screens.
New Personalisation Tools
Oppo is also putting more emphasis on customisation. Users
can now set motion photos or short videos as dynamic wallpapers. An expanded
font library lets you pick styles that fit your personal taste or even have AI
create one that matches your background image.
The Always On Display has been
redesigned to show your full wallpaper, similar to Apple’s iPhone
AOD style. It
no longer limits the view to just glanceable icons and notifications. The new
Flux Home Screen layout adds flexibility by letting users adjust the size of
icons and folders for a more personalised setup.
The
first wave of updates begins in late October with the
Find X8 and Find N5 series. In November, the Find X7 lineup and Reno 14 series
will start getting the update. By December, it’ll reach more devices like the
Find N2, Find X6, and K13 Turbo.
Older phones, including the Find X5 Pro and a
few models from the Reno and K series, are expected to get it sometime in early
2026. Oppo’s tablets, including the Pad 3, Pad 2, and Pad SE, will also be
updated in the same window.
