While we at GizChina have been drooling over the prospect of a $50 phone from JiaYu, the F1, another prominent maker has allegedly shown similar intent.
We're talking about makers of the well-received Moto X, Motorola. According to TrustedReviews, Motorola CEO Dennis Woodside pretty much confirmed plans for a $50 smartphone, making the affordable Moto G seem like a luxury.

In much of the world $179 (for a Moto G) is a lot of money so there’s a big market at a price point of less than $179,” the Motorol CEO says, “We’re going to look at that and just delivering on that value promise is super important. I mean why can’t these devices be $50? There’s no reason that can’t happen so we’re going to push that,

As you would expect, Woodside did not divulge any details about this project. A $50 phone might be a game-changer for the company, especially in developing markets where the budget smartphone segment is largely hogged by domestic and re-branded devices.
