As expected,
Taiwan's
Mediatek today unveiled the
MT6592, the much awaited, much hyped 8 core
processor!
The processor, touted as the world's first true
octa-core solution for the mobile platform, comes with the 8 cores capable of operating at up to 2GHz each. Being based on the 28nm
Cortex A7 architecture, the
processor is not only expected to be extremely powerful, but power-efficient as well. As suspected earlier, Mediatek have emphasized on the graphics part of the
chipset, which now comes with a 4 core
Mali 450-MP4 GPU and supports Ultra-HD 4Kx2K H.264 video playback, cameras modules up to 16 mega-pixel, and full HD screens. Like other Mediatek chipsets, the
MT6592 too will have an on-board modem for WiFi, GPS and
FM.
Devices based on the
MT6592 solution have already started showing up, with quite a few other ones lined up for a
launch later this month!
