Three of the biggest foldable phones in years are all landing around the same time, and it's sparked a debate among phone fans: money aside, which one would you actually want to carry every day?

Who are the competitors anyway?

Well, to decide what foldable you want, we first have to look at all of them individually, and by all of them I of course mean the highly anticipated iPhone Ultra (Fold) - although the name is not yet confirmed, it is still one of, if not the most anticipated phone this year! On the other side we have Huawei's Mate XT 2, and last but not least, Xiaomi's Mix Fold.

iPhone Ultra (Fold)

The first and most expected winner of this foldable fight is the iPhone Ultra. As iPhone's first foldable, the hype for it is not unexpected in the least. The price is rumored to be somewhere around $1,999, but what exactly do you get for this price? Well, a better question would be what you don't get. That's right, the iPhone Ultra might not even include Face ID and telephoto zoom, just to keep the design slim. Not a good trade in my opinion, but others might think differently.

Xiaomi's next foldable

As we already know from Xiaomi's foldable line, Mix Fold, we can assume that this next foldable will be very similar. By that I mean that it will focus mostly on specs, just as Xiaomi's last Mix Fold, the Mix Fold 4, which has a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip, a bright 8-inch AMOLED display, and IPX8 water resistance, all at a price far below Western foldable flagships. So assuming that Xiaomi will be following the same formula as before, then it's likely that this new foldable will also be spec-focused.

Huawei Mate XT 2

Huawei, unlike the other two competitors, went in a totally different direction. Why? That is because the Mate XT 2 will be a tri-fold, same as the Mate XT before it, unveiling an almost tablet-like screen. This is reportedly Huawei's direct answer to Apple's foldable push, with leaks pointing to a stronger focus on durability this time around, including improved hinge engineering and tougher screen materials.

What is the takeaway?

Well, who knows? We don't even have a confirmed name for the iPhone and Xiaomi foldables, so it would be way too early to make assumptions no?
