Sony is
reportedly getting ready to launch a refreshed
PS5 Pro next month. The insider, Billbil-kun, says it will be called
CFI-7121 and is expected in Europe on
September 30, 2025. Official specs? Not really. But here’s what we can piece together.
The
console will apparently
keep the same design we know and love. No radical redesigns. It seems Sony wants to give players a sense of familiarity rather than surprise. Unlike the recent PS5 Slim, which quietly cut storage and downgraded components (remember the 825GB SSD?), this new Pro isn’t expected to follow the same path. The
2TB storage will likely remain intact. That’s good news for those who store a dozen triple-A games or hoard demos for fun.
What’s vague, though, are the improvements themselves. Billbil-kun hints at unspecified upgrades. Could it be better cooling? Slight performance tweaks? Maybe more efficient power management? Hard to say. Sony hasn’t clarified. Personally, I wouldn’t rush to swap a current
PS5 Pro unless you really need a new
console now—but if you’re buying for the first time, it might be smart to wait a couple of weeks.
As for the Americas release, no word yet. Europe seems to get the first look, which is a little frustrating if you live elsewhere. But honestly, leaks like this always spark discussion. Gamers are already debating whether these tweaks are worth the hype, or if it’s mostly a minor refresh. I tend to think it’s more of the latter, but hey, surprises happen.
The bigger picture? Sony seems to be focusing on
incremental updates rather than big jumps. It makes sense; the
PS5 Pro is already powerful, and gamers care more about stability and storage than cosmetic changes. Still, there’s a human side to this story—some fans just want the thrill of new hardware, even if it’s subtle.
So, should you care? If you’re a casual player, probably not. Hardcore collectors or first-time buyers? Possibly. Wait for the launch, read the reviews, and see if the rumored improvements are worth it.
