Samsung Galaxy A08 Arrives With a 6,000mAh Battery and Six Years of Updates

Samsung has quietly added a new budget phone to its Galaxy A series. The Galaxy A08 comes with a large 6,000mAh battery, a 6.7-inch display, and six generations of Android updates.

It is not a phone built around top-end hardware. Instead, Samsung is focusing on the basics, long battery life, and software support.

The 6,000mAh battery is one of the main features of the Galaxy A08. Samsung pairs it with 25W wired charging, giving the phone enough power for long daily use.

The battery is also larger than the one found in the Galaxy A07. That should help the A08 last longer between charges, especially when using the large screen for video, browsing, or social media.

The phone weighs 197 grams and measures 8mm thick. So, despite the large battery, Samsung has kept the body fairly slim.

The Galaxy A08 has a 6.7-inch LCD display with HD+ resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. The resolution is basic, but the higher refresh rate should make scrolling feel smoother than on a standard 60Hz panel.

There is also an 8MP selfie camera inside the notch. Around the back, Samsung uses a 50MP main camera with a second 2MP sensor.

This is clearly an entry-level camera setup. The 50MP main sensor should be fine for everyday photos in good light, but buyers should not expect the camera system to compete with Samsung's more expensive Galaxy A models.

Power comes from MediaTek's Helio G99 chipset. Samsung is pairing it with up to 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, while a microSD slot gives users more room for files and photos.

The phone runs Android 16 with One UI. More importantly, Samsung promises six generations of OS upgrades and six years of security updates.

That is a strong commitment for a budget phone. Many cheap Android phones are replaced because they stop getting software updates, so Samsung's long support could make the A08 more attractive for buyers who plan to keep their phone for several years.

The Galaxy A08 is a 4G phone and includes dual-SIM support, USB-C, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. It also has IP64 protection against dust and water splashes.

Samsung has not yet announced full global pricing and availability. The phone has started appearing in some markets, with early listings pointing to a price around $170.

At that price, the Galaxy A08 will face strong competition from Redmi, Motorola, and other budget brands. Its biggest advantage may not be the hardware itself, but Samsung's software support and the large 6,000mAh battery.
