A new
report from Korea says Samsung
is set to boost early output of the
Galaxy S26 Ultra.
At first, Samsung was said to plan for about 2.5 to 2.9 million units in the first two months. Now that range has moved up to 3.5 to 3.9 million units.
That is close to one million more units
than the first set. That is not a small bump by any means. The news comes from
an industry source, so it is wise to treat it with care. Still, if true, this
shows a bold step so close to launch day.
Not
Just About Early Sales
At first glance, one may think
Samsung sees huge early sales on the way. But that may not be the case. The
report notes that this move may not be about strong demand at launch. The key
reason may be cost. Chip prices are said to be on the rise. By making more
units now, Samsung can build stock at what it sees as a lower cost. Later in
the year, parts may cost more. So the firm may be acting now to save in the
long run.
In short, Samsung may be stockpiling
units. These extra phones can then be sold later, when the build cost may be
higher. It is a plan based on cost and timing, not just hype. The full-year
plan has not changed. That detail backs up this view.
Ultra
Still the Main Star
For the first year, Samsung still
aims to make about 18 million units of the
Galaxy S26 Ultra. That goal has not
moved. That figure also tells a clear story. The Ultra is set to lead the
Galaxy S26 line by a wide gap. Samsung plans to make about 12 million units of
the Galaxy S26 and S26+ put side by side.
That means the Ultra alone will top
the base and Plus models put side by side. It shows where Samsung sees the most
pull in the flagship tier. If this report is right, Samsung is not just set for
a big launch. It is also making smart moves to deal with chip cost swings. The
Galaxy S26 Ultra may once again be the key force in the brand’s flagship push.
