According to Samsun, most of the Samsung smart TVs in the US market will get TikTok applications later this year. This is part of the company's announcement of global cooperation with TikTok at the Unbox and Discover events. The TikTok app was launched on Samsung TVs in the UK last year, and Samsung said it will bring the app to other markets later in 2021.
Every Samsung TV will get the TikTok application, but there are two models that are very suitable for the application.
One of them is the Sero TV that Samsung launched in the United States last year. Thanks to the built-in motor, its screen can rotate from landscape to portrait mode. Samsung said that in portrait mode, TikTok's video will be "completely suitable" for the TV. Sero has only one size, which is 43 inches, and the price is as high as $1,700.
The other is The Frame, which is a TV designed by Samsung to imitate wall art. It is available in 32-inch and 43-inch sizes. This TV can also be set to portrait mode, although the TV does not have a built-in motor. The 43-inch version is available for pre-order now at a price of $1,000 while the 32-inch model will be available later this year.
Other version play TikTok videos but with side bars
Other products in the Samsung TV series use the traditional horizontal orientation. When these TVs play TikTok videos, there are padding bars on both sides. The Samsung TikTok app is designed for the home experience. It is divided into 12 categories and plays the most popular content. You can watch it without a TikTok account.
It should be noted that nowadays, without a dedicated application, TikTok videos can also be watched on the TV. For example, using Apple's AirPlay mirroring function, the videos are usually displayed vertically with big black bars on both sides.
In addition to announcing TikTok, Samsung said that Sero will soon add the ability to control rotation in cooperation with Apple's AirPlay 2. Just rotate your iPhone between portrait and landscape mode, and the TV will follow automatically. This feature has been implemented on Android phones.
