8-core A15 Allwinner A80 Octa could be a Snadpragon 800 slayer!

Chinese tech doesn’t rest with details of a new 8-core processor revealed from Chinese chip maker Allwinner.

The big news this week was the launch of the 8-core MT6592 processor from Taiwanese company Mediatek, but they aren’t the only ones to open up the octa-core market as Chinese brand Allwinner also released details of it’s chip.

Where as the Mediatek processor runs 8 x A7 Cortex cores the Allwinner A80 Octa will boast 8 x A15 cores plus a either a Mail-T6XX or Mali-T7XX GPU! Benchmarks haven’t been released but there is talk of this chipset actually outperforming Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 800 SoC! The Allwinnner A80 is currently slated as a tablet specific chipset, but this could change if more domestic brands take interest in the tech.
