South Korean manufacturing giant, Samsung, is one of the few smartphone brands that come with pretty decent cameras. Samsung has been using its own camera module, ISOCELL. This has been so since its debut in the Samsung Galaxy S5. In the following years of development, Samsung also launched the ISOCELL Plus as well as ISOCELL 2.0 brands. Samsung's next-generation Samsung module brand may be called "XISO-CELL". This is from a recent trademark application by the company.

Galaxy Club reports that Samsung has recently applied for the "XISO-CELL" trademark. It applied for this trademark to the Korean Intellectual Property Information Service (KIPRIS). Although the document reveals the brand and font, it does not disclose any other information. Therefore, it is unclear whether the 200-megapixel main camera on the Galaxy S23 will use the new trademark.
The "ISOCELL" trademark originated from "isolated cells". This is Samsung's method of reducing interference and noise between two adjacent pixels in the camera. And we're not sure what adding an X in front of the current ISOCELL brand has to do with its performance or quality.

Samsung ISOCELL HPX

About a month ago, Samsung announced the ISOCELL HPX, another 200-megapixel sensor. It continues to use Samsung’s smallest 0.56μm pixel size. As a reminder, Sony launched the IMX989 lens a few months ago. One of the first terminals to use it will be the Xiaomi 13.

Samsung ISOCELL HPX supports four times lossless zoom. Even if zoomed out four times, it still can output 12MP photos. Samsung explains that the DTI technology separates each pixel while increasing the sensitivity to capture clear and vivid images. Compared with the 0.64μm pixel of Samsung's previous generation product, the pixel size of ISOCELL HPX is smaller by 12%. The latter will also reduce the area of the camera module by 20%. In its turn, this will make the smartphones slimmer and the camera part won’t protrude.
