TECNO has officially unveiled the TECNO CAMON Slim 5G, combining an ultra-thin 6.39mm design with a large 6,000mAh battery, a 50MP Sony LYTIA main camera, and a 144Hz AMOLED display.
TECNO is taking a different approach to the usual smartphone design race with its latest CAMON model. The company has introduced the TECNO CAMON Slim 5G, a smartphone that puts its 6.39mm profile at the center of the design while still packing a 6,000mAh battery and a relatively complete camera system.
The phone was announced in Hong Kong on September 7 and is positioned as a more design-focused addition to the CAMON family. TECNO is also putting considerable emphasis on photography, artificial intelligence, durability, and a selection of unconventional finishes.

TECNO CAMON Slim 5G: A Slim Smartphone That Doesn't Sacrifice Battery Capacity

At 6.39mm, the CAMON Slim 5G is built around a thin profile that TECNO says is designed to make one-handed use easier. Despite the compact body, the phone houses a 6,000mAh battery, which is notable given how aggressively smartphone manufacturers usually have to compromise battery capacity when reducing thickness.
The design continues the "swan-neck" curvature introduced with the CAMON 50 series. TECNO says the shape takes inspiration from ballet and automotive design, with curved lines intended to give the phone a more dynamic appearance.
TECNO is offering the CAMON Slim 5G in five finishes: Burgundy Red, Neo Mondrian, Matisse Black, Van Gogh Blue, and Rebel Pink.

Some of these options go beyond simply changing the rear panel's color. Neo Mondrian, for example, uses photochromic technology that allows a Mondrian-inspired pattern to appear under ultraviolet light. Van Gogh Blue uses a patterned gradient intended to recreate the swirling appearance of The Starry Night.

The Matisse Black version combines a black fiberglass body with fluorescent green accents, while Rebel Pink uses bright pink elements against a darker body. Burgundy Red, meanwhile, combines fiberglass with a matte texture and a red-brown finish.

6.78-Inch 144Hz AMOLED Display

The TECNO CAMON Slim 5G features a 6.78-inch 1.5K AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate. TECNO is also highlighting TÜV Rheinland certification for low blue light, along with several touch features designed for use in wet conditions.

The phone supports Wet & Oily Hand Touch Recognition 2.0, Rain Touch, and Waterproof Case Touch. These features are intended to keep the display responsive when the user's hands or the screen are wet.

50MP Sony LYTIA Camera Targets Night Photography

Photography remains one of the main selling points of the TECNO CAMON Slim 5G. The main camera uses a 50MP Sony LYTIA 700C sensor with a 1/1.56-inch sensor size, paired with optical image stabilization.

TECNO also uses a closed-loop ball motor for autofocus, while its stabilization system combines OIS, electronic image stabilization, and AI-based shutter processing.
One of the more unusual camera features is Super-Zoom FlashSnap. Instead of requiring the user to press the shutter at the exact right moment, the AI system can automatically capture what it considers the best moment. TECNO says the system can shoot at shutter speeds as fast as 1/11,236 seconds and supports up to 2x telephoto snap shooting.

The phone also offers portrait shooting at 24mm, 35mm, and 50mm equivalent focal lengths, giving users more flexibility when framing people and scenes.
TECNO's Universal Tone technology is also included, with the company using its skin-tone database and color reference system to improve the reproduction of different skin tones.

TECNO Mag Badge Adds a Remote Camera Accessory

Alongside the smartphone, TECNO introduced the Mag Badge, a magnetic accessory featuring its own battery and a 1.73-inch AMOLED display.
Connected over Bluetooth, it can display photos, work as a remote shutter from up to 10 meters away, and provide a preview while taking selfies. It can also be used to switch between cameras.

Dimensity 7300e and Long-Term Software Support

Under the hood, the CAMON Slim 5G uses MediaTek's Dimensity 7300e 5G chipset. The processor features an eight-core configuration and is intended to balance everyday performance with power efficiency.
TECNO is also promising relatively long software support for the device, with five years of security updates and three major Android OS upgrades.
The company says the TECNO CAMON Slim 5G has received TÜV SÜD certification for 60 months of sustained fluidity, although real-world performance over that period will ultimately depend on software updates and usage.

Built for More Than Just Looks

Despite the focus on its thin design, TECNO says the CAMON Slim 5G has been engineered to withstand demanding conditions.
The phone carries IP69K, IP69, IP68, and IP66 protection ratings, providing extensive resistance against water and dust. TECNO also says the device supports underwater photography and has passed MIL-STD-810 certification for durability against shocks and drops.

On the software side, several AI features are integrated into the phone's interface. AI Snap Poster can turn product photos into promotional material, while AI Pet Together can combine separate photos of owners and their pets.
Other tools include AI LightMaster 2.0, which can remove shadows, reflections, and lens flares from photographs. TECNO is also adding AI transcription and note-taking features, schedule recognition, and an AI Healthy Eating function capable of analyzing food photos and estimating calories and nutrients.

Key Points

  • 6.39mm without going small on battery: TECNO has managed to fit a 6,000mAh battery into a body that is only 6.39mm thick, making the phone's thinness more meaningful than a typical design exercise.
  • A CAMON built around photography: The 50MP Sony LYTIA 700C main camera combines a 1/1.56-inch sensor with OIS and AI-assisted stabilization, while FlashSnap is designed to capture fast-moving moments without requiring perfect timing from the user.
  • Design is a major part of the experience: TECNO is treating the CAMON Slim 5G almost like a fashion accessory, with five distinct finishes inspired by artists, color theory, and visual design rather than conventional smartphone colorways.
  • Thin does not mean fragile: Despite its slim profile, the phone carries IP69K, IP69, IP68, and IP66 protection, along with MIL-STD-810 certification, putting unusual emphasis on durability for an ultra-thin device.
  • The display matches the premium positioning: A 6.78-inch 1.5K AMOLED panel running at 144Hz gives the CAMON Slim 5G the kind of high-refresh-rate display normally associated with more performance-focused smartphones.
  • AI is being used for practical tasks: Instead of limiting AI to photo effects, TECNO integrates tools for product photography, note-taking, schedule management, photo restoration, pet portraits, and food analysis directly into the phone's interface.
  • The Mag Badge turns the camera into a more flexible setup: TECNO's optional magnetic accessory adds a 1.73-inch AMOLED screen, remote shutter functionality, and selfie preview, giving users another way to control the phone's cameras.
  • Long-term support is finally part of the package: TECNO promises three major Android upgrades and five years of security updates, giving the CAMON Slim 5G a considerably longer software lifespan than many phones in its segment.

Pricing and Availability

TECNO says the TECNO CAMON Slim 5G will roll out across multiple markets, although pricing and local availability will be announced separately.
In selected markets, buyers may also receive a three-month trial of Google AI Plus with 2TB of storage at no additional cost.
For now, the TECNO CAMON Slim 5G stands out primarily because TECNO has managed to combine a 6.39mm body with a 6,000mAh battery, while still including a 144Hz AMOLED panel and a Sony LYTIA-powered camera system. The final question will be how aggressively TECNO prices the phone when it reaches individual markets.
