The book-style foldable market is about to get considerably more crowded. With Honor's
Magic V6 and Oppo's Find N6 already launched, two more devices are now shaping up for mid-2026 debuts: the vivo X Fold 6 and whatever
Xiaomi ends up calling its next horizontally foldable phone. Both devices have
surfaced in credible leak pipelines, and the picture is becoming clear enough to be worth paying attention to.
Summary
- Vivo X Fold 6: 200MP main camera using the same sensor as the X300 series, 6,760mAh rated / ~7,000mAh typical dual-cell battery, 50MP periscope telephoto with telemacro, Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, 8.03-inch inner AMOLED and 6.53-inch cover display — mid-2026 China launch targeted.
- Xiaomi foldable (MIX Fold 5 or 17 Fold): Xring O3 in-house chipset expected, Q3 2026 launch — possibly July ahead of the Xiaomi 18 series in September.
- Name still unresolved for Xiaomi: The device could launch as MIX Fold 5 or Xiaomi 17 Fold — no branding confirmed yet.
- Both devices confirmed in testing: Tipsters Bald Panda, Digital Chat Station, and Smart Pikachu have each provided details across multiple reports since late 2025.
- Context: Honor Magic V6 and Oppo Find N6 have already launched; Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 is also expected this year.
Vivo X Fold 6: The Camera-First Foldable
Foldables have historically compromised on cameras — the hinge, the thinner body, and the form factor all work against sensor size.
Vivo is apparently trying to fix that with the X Fold 6. Tipsters Digital Chat Station and Smart Pikachu both independently point to a 200MP main camera, believed to be the same sensor used in the X300 series. For context, the X Fold 5 used a 50MP Sony IMX921 primary sensor. The jump to 200MP on a 1/1.56-inch format represents a genuinely significant imaging upgrade — and one that would change the camera island design to accommodate the larger sensor.
Alongside it sits a 50MP periscope telephoto lens with telemacro support, capable of close-up focusing at approximately 15cm. Zeiss-branded optics are expected across the camera system, consistent with vivo's X-series approach.
Battery and Display
The battery situation is more nuanced than the headline figure suggests. The rated capacity is 6,760mAh across a dual-cell setup — one cell at 3,915mAh, the other at 2,845mAh — with a typical value close to 7,000mAh. That's a meaningful step up from the 6,000mAh dual-cell in the X Fold 5, which was already one of the largest foldable batteries in the market. Display-wise, the X Fold 6 is expected to carry an 8.03-inch inner LTPO AMOLED running at 120Hz with 4,500 nits peak brightness, complemented by a 6.53-inch cover display with matching specifications. The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 handles processing — the same chip powering the Honor Magic V6 and Oppo Find N6, which means performance benchmarks are already well-established before this device launches.
Xiaomi's Foldable: Xring O3 and a July Target
The Xiaomi situation is more ambiguous — but not without substance. Tipster Bald Panda confirmed on Weibo that Xiaomi's upcoming book-style foldable is targeting a Q3 2026 launch, with July the most likely window given the Xiaomi 18 series is expected to anchor September. The device is internally designated Q18 with model number 2608BPX34C, and Mi Code references place it alongside the Xring O3 chipset — Xiaomi's next in-house processor, succeeding the Xring O1 that debuted in the Xiaomi 15S Pro.
I suppose the naming question will irritate anyone trying to track this device. MIX Fold 5 and Xiaomi 17 Fold are both in circulation as candidate names, and no official branding has been confirmed. What is clear is that this is a fresh project — not a rework of the cancelled nirvana prototype — and that it represents Xiaomi's first attempt at a book-style foldable since the MIX Fold 4 in 2024. Whether the Xring O3 remains China-only, as the O1 did, remains an open question.
