The
vivo X500 Ultra has yet to make its official debut, but the first details about the phone are starting to emerge. On October 19,
Chinese tipster Digital Chat Station claimed on Weibo that an upcoming flagship phone will use the
Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, also known as the 8EE6.
The phone is expected to launch between March and April 2027. The tipster did not name the device, but
IT Home believes it could be the
vivo X500 Ultra.
What the Leak Says About the Display
According to the leak, the phone will feature a 6.85-inch BOE display with 2K resolution, a refresh rate of up to 144Hz and LTPO technology. LTPO allows the screen to adjust its refresh rate to match the content, which can help reduce power consumption.
The panel is reportedly flat, with narrow bezels on all four sides and rounded corners. An ultrasonic 3D fingerprint reader is also said to sit under the display.
The current vivo X300 Ultra already has a 6.82-inch AMOLED panel with a resolution of 3168 × 1440 pixels and a refresh rate of up to 144Hz. It runs on the
Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5.
If the leaked specifications prove accurate, the X500 Ultra will not bring a major change in refresh rate. The main differences would be its slightly larger display and newer processor.
How Could the vivo X500 Ultra Differ From the X500 Pro Max?
vivo Vice President Huang Tao previously said the company would continue the Ultra series, with its next model expected in March or April 2027. He also suggested that its camera system would differ more clearly from the
vivo X500 Pro Max.
The Ultra is expected to target demanding users and professional content creators. vivo launched the X500, X500 Pro and X500 Pro Max in China in September 2026, but the camera setup for the upcoming Ultra remains unknown.
The vivo X300 Ultra has two 200MP cameras and a 50MP ultrawide sensor. When asked whether the new phone would feature three large 200MP sensors, Digital Chat Station said it would not.
Other reports suggest vivo has been testing several 200MP cameras. However, that does not confirm which sensors will make it into the final device. More reliable details will be needed before we can judge what the X500 Ultra will offer for photography.
Price and Availability Remain Unknown
Digital Chat Station did not name the phone, so the connection to the vivo X500 Ultra remains an assumption made by IT Home.
vivo has not announced the price or confirmed the battery and camera specifications. Its plans for international availability are also unclear, with some reports suggesting the phone could remain exclusive to China.
The specifications may still change before the expected spring launch. For now, the main takeaway is that vivo is reportedly preparing a flagship powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6. The rest will need to wait for further leaks or an official announcement.
