Xiaomi's track record with
Android updates hasn't been stellar to say the least. They rarely update the Android versions of their devices, and even when they do it's hard to notice. This is in part due to MIUI's heavy customizations.
Thankfully, Xiaomi plans to update their current flagship the Mi5 to Android Nougat fairly soon. The update will ship along with MIUI 8 for the Mi5 and will supposedly improve its battery life and performance.
Along with that, Xiaomi is also searching for Global Beta testers for the Mi5, Mi Max and Redmi 3S/Prime. If you’re keen to join the program, you can do so . You'll want to hurry though, registrations end tomorrow.
With this, we can expect it to be only a matter of time before other Xiaomi devices receive their Nougat updates. Perhaps the
upcoming Mi5C and
mystery CES Xiaomi device will ship with Nougat? Only time will tell, we suppose.
