Xiaomi is
preparing its next tablets. Leaks suggest that both the Pad 8 and Pad 8 Pro may feature Qualcomm’s
Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chipset. That is unusual. Normally, the Pro model gets the premium chip. The standard model usually gets something slightly less powerful. If true, Xiaomi is doing something different. But, of course, leaks are not always accurate.
Some sources say the Pad 8 might actually use the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4, which is still fast but not the Elite 2. Either way, the Pad 8 Pro will almost certainly have the Elite 2. That would make it one of the fastest
Android tablets expected in 2025.
Performance You Can Feel
Both models are expected to have 8GB or 12GB RAM. That should allow smooth multitasking. Heavy apps, PC-style games, streaming video while editing a document—they could all run without slowing down. In practice, this is what users notice most. Benchmarks are one thing, daily use is another.
Charging and display likely separate the two models. Certifications show the Pad 8 supports 45W charging, while the Pro goes up to 67W. That is a clear difference. In everyday use, faster charging can matter more than a slightly faster processor.
Xiaomi’s Strategy
Reports suggest six new tablets are planned for 2025 across Xiaomi and Redmi. The Pad 8 series seems to be central to this strategy. Global launches are expected. India and Japan might get different models or see delays.
Giving both models high-end processors could be tricky. The base model could feel very capable. That might make the Pro feel less special. Xiaomi is probably relying on other features—better display, faster charging, or accessory support—to make the Pro worth the premium.
Why It Matters
If these leaks are accurate, the Pad 8 series could be a strong contender in 2025. Fast chips, enough RAM, high-speed charging, and a polished design are compelling. The smaller improvements—smoother performance, better multitasking—might make daily use feel noticeably better. These are small touches, but they matter.
Xiaomi may not be reinventing tablets. But it seems focused on making them more capable and reliable. Sometimes quiet improvements make the biggest difference.
